Justice!!

I got this mail today and just had to share it with you, now I am no sadist, but this I do love, this is what I call justice!

Bum rap

4 September 2008

This alleged thief had to be rushed to hospital last night after being impaled on a fence.

The incident took place at the East London museum.

The suspect is alleged to have broken down the back door to the museum. The alarm went off, giving him a fright, and he ran away.

He climbed a tree and then attempted to jump over the fence. However, he lost his footing and was impaled by one of the spikes on the fence.

The man was discovered by a tow truck driver who heard his cries.

The man was taken to Frere Hospital and it is understood that he is due to undergo surgery.

You can save a life too!

Now this is no crime, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway. It might save a life or two.

Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue

I will continue to forward this every time it comes around!

STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word.
I agree.

If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
Seriously..

Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read
and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to
10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Be aware!!

I got this mail today and I thought it wise to share it with whoever deems it necessary to read it. It may save your life or the life of your loved one. The point I want to make is, always be aware of what is going on around you!! According to stats house robbers kill 30% of their victims. So the motive is not robbery anymore, it is murder!!

This is a generic E mail so I apologise to some of you that might have heard a lot of the gory details already.
Just to inform you about an unfortunate incident that we have experienced.
On Thursday morning +- 12H30 Kathy could not sleep and so she got up and went to work on the computer in the office-many of you will know the setup-She was out there for about 1 and a half hours and on coming back inside saw somebody in the house. She thought it was me and carried on. When she went in the front door she surprised an intruder standing inside. He took fright and shot her in the stomach and then ran out of the door. As he ran over her he shot her again in the hand and in the leg.I was fast asleep in bed and did not hear the shots but was woken to her screaming. I immediately ran out to find her lying across the front door entrance and she told me what had happened.
I then pressed the panic button and called the police who were on the scene within 5 minutes. They then radioed for an ambulance which also arrived very promptly. They stabilised her and rushed her to hospital and I stayed behind and did what I had to do with the police. I discovered that the robber had taken my laptop which was lying next to the piano where I always dump my stuff when I come home from school.
The Police then started following the tracks and later returned to tell me that they had lost the spoor after about 4 kms. They did however recover Kathy's handbag which he had chucked into a neighbours garden.
Kathy was being stabilised in the local hospital. She was then operated on her stomach so that the surgeon could investigate the internal damage and came out of theatre and into ICU about an houir later. The doctor informed me that it had been touch and go because her blood pressure had dropped dangerously low.- she had lost a lot of blood internally- Whilst she was in theatre they removed about 300mm of her small intestine.
She was readmitted to theatre at about 17H00 Thursday so that the orthopaedic surgeon could work on her hand- the bullet had entered through the back of her hand and come out on the palm side. Her blood pressure was still very worrying but the doctor explained that they had to take the chance because of the risk of infection. Anyway she came through that operation well. The surgeon later told me that she had been very lucky as the bullet had passed fairly neatly between the metatarsal of her index and middle finger.( I hope I am getting the physiology right).
On Thursday night her leg wound bled profusely and caused further complications especially due to the fact that her BP was so worrying.
She is now recovering well and should move out of ICU today-Saturday- although she is not allowed to eat anything due to risk of infection because of all the leakages in her stomach.
The police were fantastic on the night.Within 5 minutes there must have been 10 police cars on the scene. We have been experiencing a spate of robberies in our area recently. A woman 5 houses down was raped by an intruder a few weeks back and some man shot dead in his house just around the corner. so they are really on their toes at the moment. We have what they call sector policing where we all have a cell no. of a policeman in our suburb which I have on speed dial. They spent hours searching for finger prints and their were all sorts of high ranking officers in and out and a call to the Director of Security at 04H00.
I phoned the girls at about 06H00 that morning to inform them of what had happened to their mother and the Proctor family in the Eastern Cape were fantastic about organising to get them collected from Grahamstown and put on a flight to Joburg where Mike Burns collected them and brought them up to Polokwane.
The support we have received from everybody has been overwhelming with hundreds of calls and messages.People have been bringing meals and phoning constantly to check up on us.Kathy's school had a special assembly on Friday morning to pray for her and the pupils all made get well cards.
In the meantime we have no option but to build the walls higher. We can no longer feel safe in our own home and have to be constantly aware that there might be someone lurking out there with a 9mm pistol in his hand ready to shoot at the drop of a hat. One of the things Kathy has repeated often since the incident is that she cannot believe that the guy could so easily just fire 3 shots into her when all he really needed to do was push her out the way and flee.
